Board member of Ágora, Agrupación para el Diálogo, with responsibilities in Ateneo de Madrid sections connected with photography, literature and communication.
Miguel Ángel García-Sánchez
Writer, poet, essayist and researcher
A body of work bringing together travel, history, memory, narrative archaeology, geopolitics, technology, democracy and critical inquiry.
Writing between travel, memory and investigation
Miguel Ángel García-Sánchez is a Spanish writer, poet, essayist, researcher, analyst and judicial computer expert. His output is deliberately interdisciplinary—polygraphic in the classical sense—spanning poetry, political theory, narrative archaeology, cultural anthropology, geopolitics, technology, intellectual history and documentary analysis. The connecting thread is methodological rather than disciplinary: reconstruct from sources, distinguish evidence from interpretation, and state the limits of what can actually be demonstrated.
Public trajectory and method
His documented public record extends at least to 2008. Between 2008 and 2015 he served on the board of Ágora, Agrupación para el Diálogo, while assuming responsibilities in Ateneo de Madrid sections connected with photography, literature and communication. He founded the digital magazine Opinión Digital in 2011 and took part in radio, editorial and cultural projects. From 2013 to 2015 he chaired the Ateneo de Madrid’s Section of Marginal Thought (Sección de Pensamiento Marginal), conceived as a formal setting in which ideas outside the mainstream could be examined without confusing a hypothesis’s right to be heard with a right to be believed. El Confidencial reported on one of those public events in March 2013, where García-Sánchez appeared alongside former minister Jordi Sevilla and philosopher Carlos París.
Travel as a form of knowledge
García-Sánchez has travelled through North Africa, Southeast Asia, parts of the Americas, the Caucasus, Turkey and much of Europe. Travel appears in his work as a way of questioning places where history retains a physical presence: temples, ruins, mountains, borders, museums and landscapes in which memory seems attached to stone.
Works and editions: seven lines of inquiry
In Altars of the Deluge, García-Sánchez travels through Indonesia, Sundaland and living megalithism. In I Am Odysseus, he returns to Homer to ask what remains after war, exile and loss. In the Spanish-language El arma del Tercer Templo, he reconstructs Israel’s nuclear programme and the strategic logic associated with the Samson Option. In La historia de Adán y Eva, he provides the Spanish translation, textual establishment and critical study of Chan Thomas, separating archival fact, media reception and evidence.
La Ilustración Oscura applies the same discipline to Silicon Valley, Palantir, artificial intelligence, defence, surveillance and sovereignty. Urnas y poder: Democracia interpuesta moves to parties, bureaucracies, elites and institutional self-preservation, developing comparative tools for studying when delegated power becomes difficult to replace. La última columna, published in Spanish, extends the documentary method to terrorism, symbolism, collective trauma and rituals of memory around 9/11, 11-M and 7/7.
The books do not share a single subject, but they share a method: follow the trace, check the source, acknowledge uncertainty and turn research into a sustained reading experience.
Intellectual and bibliographic trajectory
The chronology places the current publications within a documented editorial and cultural trajectory extending back through earlier years. Where a verifiable earlier edition exists, the corresponding book page states it explicitly.
